The Food Bank offers weekly in-person shopping times on-site at 17928 Vashon Hwy SW (behind the Methodist Church). Customers choose from an array of items including fresh fruits and vegetables; protein sources such as chicken, fish, tofu and dairy; cereals/grains, canned goods, coffee/tea, fresh bread and pastries. We also offer personal hygiene supplies, diapers and more. This service is offered on Wednesdays, 10am - 7pm. We have a weekly shopping list request model for customers to pick-up groceries or they can shop in-person. Fresh groceries for pick-up are packed by a team of trained and efficient volunteers and then placed in the Food Bank Warehouse waiting room for pick-up. Pick-up service is available on Thursdays and Fridays between 10 am - 2 pm. Orders must be placed before 5 pm on Wednesdays through the Home Delivery menu. If you are in need of emergency food and unable to attend our in-person shopping on Wednesdays (10 am -7 pm) or receive Home Delivery (Thursdays and Fridays) please call the office during our business hours and we will work with you to find a solution: (206) 463-6332.
Vashon’s Food Bank was started in the basement of the Presbyterian Church in the late 1970s and was incorporated as a non-profit organization in December 1991. We have been offering free groceries to Vashon residents ever since, through direct grocery distribution and innovative programming. The Food Bank’s services have evolved along with the changing needs of our community. We offer multiple services, including a program of once a week in-person shopping and grocery pick up, as well as a hugely expanded home delivery program. Additional programs like Picnics in the Parks, Harvest for Vashon, and the Food Bank Garden add to the diverse ways the Vashon Food Bank meets the island’s needs.
