Free grocery-style food pantry; choose your own items including fresh, frozen, shelf-stable. Open to residents of Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, Poquoson. No income limits. One visit every 30 days. Appointments only; new appointments added daily at midnight except Thursdays. Late hours until 6:15 PM 3 times per week.
About This Pantry
The Market at THRIVE, presented by Food Lion, is the first free grocery store on the Peninsula. It is a dignified space where people can obtain food without feeling ashamed or judged. The Market focuses on offering fresh and healthy foods including produce, meats, dairy, bread and shelf-stable goods. Our onsite garden provides a portion of the fresh produce available on the shopping floor. THRIVE is a proud partner agency of the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.
