Food is free at the Pilsen Food Pantry. Although our target areas are the 60607, 60608, 60609, and 60612 zip codes, we provide free food to anyone in need from any zip code. Clients may visit the food pantry twice monthly.
How it works: At 2124 S. Ashland, clients enter through Ashland door. Take a numbered ticket, register, fill out form (English/Spanish/Chinese) and shopping list. Limit one order per household; one visit per household every two weeks. Must be at least 15. SNAP/social service connection available.
The Pilsen Food Pantry was founded by the Figueroa Wu Family Foundation in 2018. The pantry is an extension of the Foundation’s mission to bring anti-poverty services into areas of unmet need through the lens of health justice. The pantry has twelve employees and is supported by many volunteers. It distributes culturally-sensitive perishable and non-perishable foods as well as personal and household items.
