Progress Grange was chartered on February 3, 1874. Over 150 years later, Progress Grange still is an integral part of Centre Hall. Community service projects like the Food Distribution have helped over 30,000 individuals in the community. In addition to the distribution, Progress Grange has an annual Children's Fair (July), an annual Brunch with the Grinch (December), annual Blueberry Sale (March - June, pickup late June), a monthly meeting (third Tuesday), serves community dinners / takeouts, and participates in the annual Centre Hall Town Wide Yard Sale (June). They have been nurturing hope and dispensing charity since their inception.<br><br>One of Progress Granges founders, Leonard Rhone, also started the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair. He went on to help charter other Granges in the community and created Centre County Pomona. Leonard Rhone served as an officer for Progress Grange, PA State Grange, National Grange, as well as held other positions in government both local and state.<br><br>The building, designed by Robert Cole, is a familiar site by the community. Often thought to be a church, it was and still is the Progress Grange Hall since it was built in 1898.<br><br>Progress Grange and its members are deeply rooted in the community, civic organizations, and all things charity.
