Anchor House Shelter is a program-based shelter for the homeless. This means that when a client checked in, they are not just given a place to stay and sleep. Although, our clients are given those things, they are required to do a little work in order for them to stay in the program.

We do this to help them have the knowledge and ability to be on their own when the time comes for them to do so. Our clients who are able, are required to have a job within 2 weeks of coming to the shelter. Once they have that job, they are required to save half of their pay from every check received. This is returned to them when they move out of the shelter, giving them funds to pay a deposit their new place, buy dishes, or get furniture if they need it. They are given aid in finding housing and we have classes to help them learn life skills such as cooking and budgeting. We are proud of the progress that all of our clients make, and we want them to succeed in all they do after leaving our program.
